Ever heard of the Borneo Monster? Me neither, at least not until I flipped on my computer screen, logged into AOL and saw the small news caption with a picture of a very big, snake looking thing gliding through dark waters. After reading a little on it, I decided that it was time for me to do more research on this creature and see just what all the hub-bub was about. In Borneo, which is located in Sarawak, there is a myth of enormous proportions, the 100 foot Nabu Snake. Recently a photograph of a large object waving through Borneo’s Baleh River, surfaced. Though the photograph was blurry, and could have been a fake, it has some residents of the island, those who grew up on the legend of the Nabu, worried. So what is this creature? I’m glad you asked. The Nabau Snake is a half-dragon, half-snake that has the dangerous ability to shape-shift to blend in with its environment. But, the dragon-snake’s abilities do not stop there. According to legend, the Nabau can transform into animal and human alike. The ancient snake has been compared to the famous Loch Ness monster, Nessie. So what is the legend behind the monster? Though many mythical creatures have a beggining, usually a man did something to upset a God…something similiar to that. I was not able to find anything about Nabu. But I believe that in the darkest corners of our caves, the deepest depths of our seas, in untouched and rarely ventured lands. Just outside our windows, where the pearlesque moon shines upon the dark, twisted fingers of the trees that sit quietly, holding back an undiscovered secret in a forest that we, not too long ago ventured…they are out there.
